Sharp points on cheek teeth may be resolved by a technique known as floating. A long-handled file is introduced into the mouth and rapidly moved in and out as it is angled diagonally to the tooth edges –this blunts and rounds the sharp points.
The abdominal mass was obvious, and x-rays and ultrasound suggested it involved the kidney. Exploratory surgery revealed this large mass where the right kidney should be. The surgery was successful and the mass was removed. Histopathology diagnosed a huge renal cyst that virtually replaced the entire kidney. This condition was probably a birth abnormality that continued to enlarge. Cassidy recovered and is doing well.
Moondance had a fatty tumor which is not uncommon to dogs. We monitored the growth for a year without any change. We took him in for a general check-up and the Dr. recommended removal of the fatty tumor. His recovery went well and all his fur grew back.
