At Keepers of the Wild, the care and well-being of our animals is our # 1 concern. This area of our site features graphic photographs and details of many medical procedures our animals have gone through... not only for general care, but life-saving emergency medical care.

Presenting this information to the public is not meant to be "sensational", or disrespectful of our animals. Our goal is merely to:

When we first acquire an animal, there is a general
"quarantine" period, during which the animal is
taken to our veterinarian of record for a general
physical including (but not limited to):

- Bloodwork
- Fecal test
- Urine test
- Dental cleaning & any other necessary dental
work
- X-rays (and / or ultrasound if necessary)
- Spaying / neutering (if required for health reasons)

As you can probably guess, the veterinary visits and
procedures (while deeply discounted) are extremely
costly... as well as any extended medical care and
treatments once the animals are back home at Keepers
of the Wild (i.e. - medications, diets, etc.). Jonathan
and/or other senior staff members transport the animal
receiving treatment to the veterinarian, where they often
assist in the procedures (as in the photo to the right),
so Jonathan and others will appear throughout the
medical stories.

Keepers of the Wild would like to express our gratitude to all the medical staff of the Kingman Animal Hospital for their dedication, support and awesome care they provide for our animals.

We'd also like to thank Dr. Charles Lucero, D.D.S., for the wonderful dental care and procedures he has provided for our animals.

The treatments depicted here are just a few important examples of what animals need done to stay alive and healthy; including what symptoms presented and treatments were prescribed. We hope this topic is helpful and educational for you.
