Bearcats, AKA binturongs, belong to the family viverridae and are found in forest canopies in Southeast Asia, Borneo, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and Palawan Island.  They smell like buttered popcorn and are extremely playful.  Binturongs are an endangered species because of the decline of rainforests.

DOB:   6/9/94     Arrived:   1994

We lost Popcorn to complications resulting from Valley Fever July, 2002.  She was very well loved as all our animals are and is sadly missed.  The above poem was written by a volunteer.

Popcorn

She steps very softly,
she moves like a sloth,
until she is ready,
she seems so aloft,
Then she moves swiftly,
like lightning she does,
to capture her target,
in this game she loves,
her hair is so wiry,
her eyes very wise,
her sweet smell is potent,
no way to disguise,
she's bearcat by name,
binturong by trade,
a wonderful animal,
her memory won't fade,
her razor sharp claws,
and needle-like teeth,
are gentle to some,
and others they reap.
